Conservation Today, a student-run news website, is organising an event in London on the 20th of June (The Open Ground), bringing conservationists, writers and social scientists together to explore new avenues for saving the planet! Famous faces attending include John Fa (Director of the world-famous Durrell Wildlife Trust), Armand Leroi (BBC presenter and Professor at Imperial College London) and Ruth Padel, prize-winning author of ‘Darwin: a life in poems’.
There are three sections to the day, looking at conservation prioritisation, conceptions of nature, and the future of conservation as a discipline. Each section will have three speakers, who will give short presentations and then take part in open panel discussions, giving everyone there a chance to shape the flow of the day. The Royal Society of the Arts are also displaying winners from their recent ‘Respond’ competition, which there will be time to view.
