Subject: [NBL] Ardoch Algonquin against Uranium mine
Dear Friends,
I'm guessing you've heard by now the outcome of last week's court
case regarding the Ardoch Algonquin First Nation's efforts to protect
30,000 acres of land north of Sharbot Lake from an open pit uranium
mine. Bob Lovelace has been incarcerated and hefty fines were laid
against the Ardoch Algonquin First Nation and their co-chief, Paula
Sherman. I was in court all day Tues, Thurs & Fri and I can tell you
that this judge's harsh decision was egregiously misinformed. Justice
was not served.
For now, a few things are happening:
1) I'm taking orders for NO URANIUM T-shirts as a fundraiser - cost

May 25, 2008 - Charlotte, NC Today, activists with Asheville Rising Tide
broke ground on a new 800 Mw clean energy power plant in Duke Energy CEO
Jim Rogers front yard. The power plant will tap into a previously
unexplored energy source known as hot air which has been found in large
concentrations at Roger's residence, 330 Eastover Rd, Charlotte, NC.
"The hot air emitting from Jim Rogers mouth has been around for quite
some time, but the last couple of years has seen an exponential growth
of this untapped energy source as Rogers parades around the country
calling for greenhouse gas reductions while building the dirty Cliffside
coal plant. This was simply an opportunity we couldn't pass up," said

individuals working to stop Houston-based Dynegy from building new
coal-fired power plants in six states, is seeking wide & diverse
support, co-sponsors, and turnout for the upcoming protest at the
company’s shareholders meeting on May 14.

Durban Group for Climate Justice North American tour

In 2004, the Durban Group for Climate Justice convened
in Durban, South Africa to question the central role of
carbon trading and carbon offsets in governments’
responses to the climate crisis. Members of the Durban
Group are traveling in various cities throughout the US
and Canada in January, February, and March 2008 to
share experiences of the failures of carbon trading in
Europe, India, Brazil, Uganda and elsewhere, and to
learn more about U.S. carbon trading plans and climate
politics.
